This unique one of a kind piece is handcrafted from copper, vitreous enamel (pigmented powdered glass) and sterling silver.
First, the shape is created from copper. It is then hand filed to remove any rough edges.
Holes are drilled and filed smooth.
Vitreous enamel is sifted onto the copper and fired in a kiln at 1460° Farenheit. The process is repeated multiple times on each side with different colors to fuse the glass to the copper and create the design. The sides are sanded.
Sterling silver wire is used to create the rest of the design.The design is soldered.
Liver of sulfur is used to create the darkened appearance. It is buffed and a round bur is used to smooth ends of wires.
These are a sunset orange and spruce green, as well as a crackle enamel for slightly crackled effect. The enameled piece is approximately 1.75" in length and 2.5" in length including bale.
The chain adjust up to 18". Simply hold onto the heart on the end and ball and pull to slide to length.
The necklace is packaged in a cotton filled gift box and a padded envelope.
